Sea Hurricane Mk. 1B (Airfix)41 viewsAlthough the new Airfix kit is marketed as a standard Battle of Britain model all the parts for the Sea Hurricane are included. So, I decided “why not?” The big sky “K” is a stencil I made and the Royal Navy serial number were made on my computer. Other decals are from the kit. The paints, Extra Dark Sea Gray and Slate Gray, are Polly Scale I’ve hung onto for years.

Markings are based on information in Scale Aircraft Modeling Color’s “Combat Colors Number 2” which cover the Hurricanes from 1939 to 1945.

88mm Flak36 (Tamiya 1/35)41 views15th Panzer Division, Halfaya Pass, Libya, June 15, 1941.

I built this model as the Flak36 variant and it represents German defenses during Operation Battleaxe, which was the second British attempt to retake the Halfaya Pass and relieve Tobruk. Concealed 88mm guns like this one decimated the advancing British tanks, earning it the nickname “Hellfire Pass”.
